Rabbi Eric Morgenstern
Rabbi Eric Morgenstern
 is a Jewish Universalist rabbi.  He is the founder and Rabbi of Kehillah Chen v’Chesed, a Jewish Universalist Synagogue that offers Enrichment Programs, Pastoral Care, Life Cycle Services, Shabbat and Festival services to a community of unaffiliated families.

Rabbi Morgenstern has been a Jewish Educator for 25 years specializing in both the Conservative and Reform platforms.  He has focused on experiential Judaism in such areas as Social Action, Family and Community Education.  Rabbi Morgenstern is a leader who emphasizes the importance of people and maintains the view that the central task of a Rabbi is to develop a good fit between the congregation and the synagogue.  He is a member of the International Federation of Rabbis.

Rabbi Morgenstern is committed to empowering others and relies on personal charisma to get people excited and committed to the mission of the synagogue.  I look forward to personally meeting each of you!


Music

Rick Lupert
Rick Lupert
 leads the children of Kehillah Chen V’Chesed in fun Jewish music sessions during their enrichment classes led by Rabbi Morgenstern, as well as our religious services and holiday celebrations throughout the year with his wife Addie.  He has been a Jewish music educator and song leader since 1995. He’s served at numerous camps, synagogues and Jewish community centers as a song leader, cantorial soloist and music teacher for children and adults of all ages.  Rick studies the art of leading Jewish music annually at the Hava Nashira Jewish Music Educator’s retreat at Olin Sang Rubin Union Institute for Living Judaism in Ocnomowoc, Wisconsin with luminaries of Jewish music including Debbie Friedman, Craig Taubman, Jeff Klepper, Julie Silver, Dan Nichols and many more. Rick is involved with Los Angeles’ poetry community. He has authored over 15 collections of poetry, edited the anthology “A Poet’s Haggadah: Passover Through the Eyes of Poets”, has hosted a long running weekly poetry reading in Canoga Park and is regularly featured at venues throughout Southern California. He has also been an invited artist to major Jewish events such as the Limmud Conference in England and the Union for Reform Judaism Biennial.  Rick also works as a freelance graphic designer for print and web.

Addie Lupert
Addie Lupert 
joins her husband Rick in leading Kehillah Chen V’Chesed religious services and holiday celebrations along with our community life cycle events. She has been a song leader and music teacher in the Jewish community for many years and currently serves as the Judaic and General studies music teacher at Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School in Northridge. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from The Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Addie also attends the annual Hava Nashira Jewish Music Educator’s Retreat Olin Sang Rubin Union Institute for Living Judaism in Ocnomowoc, Wisconsin. She and her husband Rick live in Van Nuys with their son Jude.

Administration

Sue Roth
Sue Roth is the administrator and accountant for KCVC. She is responsible for assisting Rabbi Eric with the day to day operations as well as the financial aspects of the synagogue. Having worked as a bookkeeper, business manager, and accountant for the last 32 years, Sue brings a wealth of knowledge to KCVC. Sue began her education at UCLA, and after moving to the east coast, her degree in accounting was completed at Strayer University. Currently, Sue owns and operates Sue Roth & Associates, a business management firm in Woodland Hills, CA. Sue is the proud mom of Lindsay and enjoys her volunteer work at Lindsay’s school and extracurricular activities.
